Unknown incoming calls and bad battery

Hi,

I’m from Slovenia and I bought “Fairphone 4” about 2 years ago. After visiting Hungary last year, I have issues with Unknown incoming calls. Every number, when somebody calls me, is unknowm. I can’t know, who was made a call, if I don’t response immediately durring calling. My mobile operator is A1. I was already on 3 places from A1 operator to ask how to solve this problem, but nobody don’t know, how to fix this.

I need to do something about this, because this is very awkward situation. My phone is almost useless about incoming calls.

Second issue is batetery, which is very poor after 2 years. It lasts barrely a day and is almost empty, even my mobile data and wifi are turn off.

I was thinking about buy fairphone 5, because of all of these problems, but how can I know, If there wouldn’t appears the same problem with incoming calls too??? The only reason to by “fairphone 4” was ethical, but I can’t use phone with such issues… Does it exist any solution for this problem??? Otthervise I need to change phone brand, because this is undearable…

Perhaps a new SIM will help?
Wild guess switch your phone from 5G to 4G.
There are rumours that Fairphone 6 will come end of this month.

I already have new SIM, but it doesn’t fix this issue. I also tried with SIM from other mobile network and it doesn’t help.

And switching from 5G to 4G?
Go to the app Settings > network and internet > SIMs > your sim name
Set the Preferred network type from 5G/4G/3G/2G to 4G/3G/2G.

Try to turn off VoLTE or is neither 2G nor 3G available in your country (only to test). Is your provider/network in FPs list of tested/supported provider?

I tried with 4G but it’s the same issue still present…

I don’t have VoLTE option available under “prefeared network type”. There are only options for 5G, 4G, 3G, 2G…

Thats unfortunate and up to your provider to provide. Without the setting issues are difficult to identify. So you could try a SIM from a different (and best FP supported) provider again to see if this has the VoLTE/4G calling setting and what the issue is. And depending how old your SIM card is, it might be worth to get a new one.

Did you try to perform a factory reset ? Maybe there is something corrupt in your OS or with any app.

Yes, I think, that factory reset would be the only option…

I tried factory reset, but is the same issue again… Incoming calls are still unknown after reset…

Is on the top of the screen the icon of the SIM visible?

I ordered Fp gen 6. I hope, this problem will be fixed in this new model. Otherwise I’m probably lost 600€… Any advice, what to do, if this happens again on Fp6? On the shop web write that Is it risk free 14 days after delivery, so I hope that I can send it back if incoming calls would be unknown again…

If the problem still occurs with the new phone, I think that may be an issue with your mobile operator…

I tried also with SIM from another operator SIMOBIL, but problem was the same… Incoming calls were also unknown.

I have now Fp gen6 now. For now I can finally see incoming calls now almost after one year. But on old Fp4 it was also ok. from beginning… Any advice, hov to avoid the same problems in the future?
