Let´s hope Fairphone fixes all of this, it´s unfortunate since it is the best phone in the planet if we exclude these issues. Graphene have been looking for a phone OEM to collaborate with for compatibility, and Fairphone+Graphene would be the dream phone IMO. Do you think they would need to stop working with Murena´s e/OS for this to be possible? After all, e/OS is not very secure, which jeopardizes how private they claim to be. Thoughts?
Well I for one find the graphene / eos feud annoying. In every article I find about e/os, there is a Graphene guy in the comments that go out of their way to stomp on FP and e/os, while advising everyone to buy a Google Pixel. They might have a point on some issues (I don’t know) but their way of saying it just rubs me the wrong way. And on my side, the main reason I think of getting e/os with a FP6 is to NOT give money to Google. Installing a différent OS on a Google Pixel seems counter productive to me.
But that’s just my two cents.
Yeah, this needs to happen.
I wouldn’t bet on this. The announcement talked about a partner with global distribution.
I don’t GrapheneOS will have an problem is Fairphone fixes all their issues. GrapheneOS have their standards and its up to the phone manufactures to live up to those standards. Hopefully Fairphone will reach those someday.

I’m simply asking because despite the fairphone being a good solution to repairability and being as sustainable as possible. I do think its equally as important that people have the ability to deny google their personal data and build their phone however they like. GrapheneOS has this ability, but unfortunately it doesn’t support fairphone products. Furthermore, it looks like other forks of stock Android don’t really accomplish full degoogling(ie. moreno /e/OS). See link attached to post:
Hi and welcome to our Community forum.
You’re not the first to ask so I moved your post to this existing topic.
GrapheneOS has strict (public) requirements for hardware in order for them to be able to claim the device is secure. Fairphone’s hardware does not meet those requirements.
These threads are pointless and a Fairphone / GrapheneOS collaboration will never happen.
As a user of Fairphone 6 with its stock Android, a past user of LineageOS (which is what /e/OS is based on), and a user of GrapheneOS, I strongly believe that the GrapheneOS device is the superior, made by adult engineers choice. I somewhat (unfortunately, to my own dismay) regret my Fairphone 6 purchase, and wouldn’t want to run GrapheneOS on my Fairphone hardware even if I was able to install it.
I’m not even talking about the ways in which GrapheneOS deals with privacy, security, and so on. It’s just noticeably a better written piece of software that works well, has relatively few bugs, and the bugs it has are rarely “my phone crashed randomly or died while charging”-grade.
Well Graphene is also just an Android OS with all the bugs Android is shoving an the devices since it is a bloated OS like Windows, macOS or iOS.
All those OSes, especially the ones for phones, are trying to lock up everything for that users cannot break their systems or install malware. Unfortunately this does not work so well.
Graphene tries to harden the OS so that even intelligence agencies have no chance to break into the system. If you need that, fine, but I dislike their marketing, telling everybody would need it.
If you want to degoogle, take any Android and do it. Search in the forum for UAD, I’ve posted a link a few month ago.
I don’t see GrapheneOS as something that’s supposed to protect me from intelligence agencies. For one, I’m not sure it could, but even if it could, if the proper authorities ever request access to my phone, I will gladly provide the credentials for them to access it.
GrapheneOS will definitely protect my data from thieves that might steal my phone though. It will also be a much safer bet that my phone is not cracked by nefarious people that would like access to my banking apps.
This is very much possible with normal not-degoogled Android. You don’t need any custom rom for that
Do you mean a normal not-degoogled Android like Fairphone’s (or even Nothing’s for that matter) that is usually two, or even three months behind the latest security release?
Do you understand how SELinux-like hardened compilation makes resulting binaries less exploitable? Do you understand how GrapheneOS’ hardware requirements make it much less likely for a thief to be able to unlock your phone?
The only reasonably-secure standard Android ROM / hardware combination for now is the Pixel, and a GOS Pixel beats even that.
