Default OS user here, just started using android and desperately missing some features:
The ability to let an app notify you, but with one toggle know it’ll never make a sound. Right now the way to do this is per subtype of notification which can be in double digits. I still want various apps to make noise (usually calls) but not every single one.
The ability to use the switch on the phone to fully mute it while e.g. watching a movie
The ability to access the camera from the swipe control centre that also has Wifi, location,…
Swipe up force closes the app, especially music streaming services.
This is probably a bug, since it shouldn’t be doing that. Have you tried reporting it to support? Unfortunately, they aren’t quick to respond, but it’s important to let them know that the issue exists.
I see this can be annoying if you only want certain types of notifications. If you only want calls to come through, you could try setting the notification sound to “None” in the settings (under “Sound and vibration), but this does indeed only work if you only want calls to come through and not notifications from selected apps.
Unfortunately, I don’t see Fairphone doing anything about it, since it’s just how it’s done in Android.
That’s actually a great option the Switch should have! I hope someone from Fairphone sees it and they add it. For now, you could just set the switch to work as a “Do not Disturb” switch. It would basically work the same way, unless you’ve customized the DnD mode.
This is exactly how I use my switch, Ive changed the default settings for Do not Disturb to only let ICE-contacts come through and alarms to be heard, everything else, notifications, sounds from apps etc will be muted:
I guess you know it already, but swiping up - left/right will open the “active apps” panel where you will se the currently open app upfront, swiping this up will kill it. however this is two steps and not just one(if thats how the Iphone works)
I have not used this before, but you can do that as you receive a notification you can long-press and change to silent, but it seems to be needed for each type of notification per app. but maybe this is what you want? when receiving an unwanted sound for a specific notification type, you can quickly change to always be silent
