Not our place to deliver this news really, and FP will communicate the way the update process will work. The update process is smooth though now by comparison

No, seriously, it isn’t, but I don’t think we should be the ones to tell you what FP are going to do… that’s their job (in the nicest possible way). Things may also change, so it doesn’t feel right for us to speculate on what the actual release version will be like until it’s final

ben, just one curiosity - has the timezone for Russia been fixed? (i.e. Moscow, as an example, should right now be one and not two hours ahead of CET). it’s been annoying me since they changed last october…

thank you, much appreciated. time zones in Russia changed in october, but Fairphone seems to be unable to update their TZ files… it was reported in october, and again in february.
They are able, sure. But when did you run an update of your Android last time?

A small update on the Kola Nut software update:
After thorough internal testing of the Kola Nut software update - including a beta testing phase with our community - we are happy to announce that the final code is ready. We are currently working on getting the release infrastructure in place, i.e. the interactive tutorials, support articles, and so on.
We expect to have everything ready by the end of next week. Once this is the case we will be able send out the software update to all Fairphone users.
Thank you for your patience! We especially want to thank the people who were part of the beta testing for contributing valuable community feedback.

So… How does it work for people with 1.8 already installed? =)
If it is anything like the beta, we simply get the update as everybody else, first the FP updater, then the OS update.

Is there a (detailed) change log anywhere?
Will it rearrange everything in the launcher again? Please say no…
Take a piece of paper and note the current layout 
This back-up and restore will take you 10 min, tops 
Or I’ll go back to the Z Launcher. Honestly, rearranging the launcher is a real pain, even if I take screenshots there are other things I would rather spend my time doing!

The new Kola Nut update will have the v1 Launcher, same as all prior software versions. So if you are on the 1.0 - 1.6 Fairphone OS, your layout won’t change.
I’m on Kola Nut 1.8. Is that bad news? Thanks for your help.
