SMS not working on new FP6

Hi! I got my fairphone 6 on sunday, i was pretty happy with it, until i noticed i wasnt recieving any SMS. I cant send them neither.

I have tried a bunch of things, like trying an alternative to the Google messages app, like fossify messages, I tried to restart network settings, and eliminate the cache/data from the app, but nothing seems to work (maybe i have to follow a specific order or smth idk). VoLTE is on, so its not that either. It doesnt allow me to activate RCS either (gets stuck in the conecting phase forever and then stops).

I put my SIM on my old phone and was able to recieve messages in it, so its not a problem related to my SIM (RCS did work on my old phone so idk). Movistar is my service provider btw.

It is weird because I am able to make calls and connect to the 5G. And, what i just found out, i do recieve SMS while i am in a call. The moment i hang up i stop being able to send o recieve the messages.

I would really appreciate some help or some advice, it is really bugging me. Many thanks! :slight_smile:

just brainstorming here so bear with me:)

the relevant support article suggests checking the safe mode and the age of the SIMcard (basically if it is older than 2 years, it might give the issues for your fairphone - while working fine in other devices)

how about MMS - can you send them as well?

and finallty, would turning the Volte off change anything?

Turning VoLTE off actually worked! I am so surprised, i feel so dumb for not testing it before (i was turning it on and off but did not thought about actually keeping it off). Thank you so much!

I think what you say about the SIM being old makes sense, i will try to get a newer copy of my SIM anyways and see if that fixes it for good, so i dont need to keep VoLTE off forever (not a big deal but still).
