Repeatedly losing connection to mobile service

Hello,
obtained my first Fairphone about 2 weeks ago.
So far I am very happy with the performance, except for one issue:
Every few days when I am outside, I notice that the phone shows “no service”. I cannot receive calls or connect to mobile internet.

Only “solution” so far is to reboot the phone.
Is this a common problem?
Any solutions available?

I am using Fairphone 5 with Android 14 and security update from July 5.

Newer see this problem (FP5 from september 2023), not sure how to fix, but instead reboot, you can try in “Settings/Network and internet”:

  • SIM’s/YourOperator - disable&enable UseSIM
  • Internet - tap on top-right rounded-arrows icon (this is for restart networking)

How old is the SIM card?

Thanks for the suggestions. Will try that. Before I tried setting it in Airplane mode, but this did not help.

The sim card is indeed quite old (>10 years), but has worked reliably in my almost 4 year old Motorola phone, that I was using before.
If nothing helps, I can try to order a new card from my provider.

Ok so def get a new SIM card thats way too old and most likely not set-up for current 4G/5G technology (my provider offered new SIM cards a few years ago because of that)…

It can even be faulty if working in another phone
