just read this article in an Austrian newspaper:

Especially this part:
"iPhone 6 brachte höchsten Rohgewinn

Glaubt man der Aufstellung für Material- und Fertigungskosten (Bill of Materials) von IHS Research, war – gemessen am Dollarpreis – das iPhone 6 dennoch das lukrativste Gerät für Apple. Dem Preis von 749 Dollar standen Kosten von 200 Dollar entgegen, ohne Berücksichtigung von Entwicklung, Forschung, Marketing und Logistik stehen so Einnahmen von 549 Dollar pro Gerät zu Buche. Mit 533 bzw. 544 Dollar liegen das iPhone 6s und 7 aufgrund der gestiegenen Bill of Materials dahinter."

Which says that the material and production costs for one iPhone 6 is $200,- but it is sold for $749,-… quite a high profit margin in my opinion.

It is to be assumed who is actually being left out of this profit calculation…

Yeah, but the 200$ don’t take into account the “development, research, marketing and logistics” of the phone. They do run global TV commercials, have a global network of Apple stores, etc. According to the FP2 cost breakdown the FP2’s materials make up $248,7 (using their currency exchange rate).
