Problem with my phone screen

a black disc has appeared on my fairphone 6 screen a few weeks ago and seems to increase in size over time, hiding more and more of the display. has anyone experienced something similar? what is the fix? I suppose I need to change the screen?

thanks for your help

Hello and welcome to the community forum

Could you please post some pictures or screenshots so we can understand the issue better?

Also if you are using Stock Android, there is a MyFairphone app which you could use for troubleshooting.

This is how it looks on my FP5.

Thank you for your advices. I didn’t know about this app. The screenshots don’t show the the black disc but you can see it on this photo taken with another phone

What software is running on your phone and which launcher? Looks kind of strange. Maybe a misplaced punch hole?

Following on @Incanus questions, are you using any screen protectors?

When testing via the app, is the screen responsive in this spot? Can you draw the line through it?

This does not look like a hardware fault, since the black part is a perfect circle. I would assume that it is caused by an app.

For me it looks like a weird bug taking the camera hole in that position. I can not think of a way to prove my theory but maybe you can ask support via chat. They might ask a factory reset.

yes I can draw through it but do not see the black line within the black disc…

that’s what I am afraid of… if I change the display, the black spot might still be there… but how can an app make such a change that does survive a reboot…

it is slightly bigger than the camera hole and it looks like it is growing over time… I’ll try the factory reset, that seems a good idea, if I can find how to do it…

I did a factory reset and it doesn’t change the problem so I am leaning again for a hardware problem… unfortunately…
