Problem with fingerprint

Hi everyone, I’m new here!

I’m reaching out because I’ve been experiencing a persistent issue with the fingerprint sensor on my Fairphone 5 over the last few days.

My device is running Android 15 with the latest system update (February 15th version). Here is what I’ve already tried to fix it, without success:

  • Restarts: Multiple reboots didn’t change anything.

  • Cache: I cleared the settings app cache.

  • Safe Mode: The issue persists even in Safe Mode.

  • Settings Menu: When I try to access the fingerprint settings to re-register or add a new one, the Settings app itself shows an error/crashes specifically for that section, while the rest of the phone works perfectly.

It seems like the phone no longer recognizes the sensor hardware at all. I really need the fingerprint sensor for my daily use. What else can I do? Is this a known bug with the Android 15 update or a hardware failure?

Thanks in advance in your help!

There would be a lot to tell about. But to keep the long story short: After quite some years with Fairphone my FP5 (Running on A14) is just backup now. Phones play too big a role in everyday life to rely on such trouble-prone technology.

@Androlla Hello and welcome to the community

That might be hardware issue. Please back up all the data and run the troubleshooting via self-repair portal

If it is indeed the hw issue, sending in the phone for repair might be the best solution.
