Problem hands-free talking via speakers

Servus!

I experience a problems when hands-free talking via speakers: After a few minutes the conversational partner either doesn’t unterstand or can’t hear me at all.
After switching the speaker off and on again it works fine again - without terminating the call.

When I’m phoning normally (hands-on) I never experienced the problem. I also often checked the quality of the telephone connection but it was almost always satisfying in these situations.
Had this issue already on my old FP2 and also on my FP4 (since the purchase).

Someone has an idea what the solution coud be?

If you had the exact same issue on the FP2 I’m wondering if this is rather provider related. So whats your provider in which country and how is the SIM card?

Servus, Fairphone Angel! :baby_angel:

My provider is Magenta of Austria.

Don’t know, what you mean by “How is the SIM card?” Fine, thanks?

If it’s the provider or a faulty SIM card: How can it be explained that there are never problems when phoning normally?

Ups seems I missed a word and it should read: how old is the SIM card?

No idea, I gave up in trying to understand such things, when I learned that a SIM card can be faulty altgough you can call out, and incoming calls are no issue on another phone, however did not work on my FP2.
So if the SIM card is older than 2 years and probably even the same as you used in the FP2, def get a new one to see if this helps.

If you would not have mentioned the FP2 I would have guided you directly to this old and lenghty topic…and assume it could have to do with noise cancellation. I would just try to rule out the SIM card.

Servus, Yvonne!

Thanks for the help so far. At least I found out, that I got the SIM in 2023, together with my FP4. Since the problem started pretty much from the beginning I’ll try again using my secondary SIM.

Thanks also for the link. So now I know that there are 3 mics and the one used for speaker calls is the one “half way along the left side of the phone”. However, usually I’ll have my phone lying in front of me when using it, so I’m not covering it. It’s a useful hint though and I’ll mind and appreciate it gladly.

I’ll keep you posted.
