Hey there, I had big problems with my power button. It was ageing - now it completely doesn’t work.
It’s about one and a half years old.
I always thought physical buttons could be a problem so I use 2 XPosed modules in order to minimize power button consumption: Gravity box lets you use even volume buttons to unlock the phone (so I statistically reduce consumption in unlocking the phone), Gesture Navigation lets you add gestures to do almost everything, and I configured two gestures to lock the screen without pressing the power button 
I also have F2L to lock the phone using the proximity sensor
