Phone storage - how to know where apps/photos etc are stored

Hi,

I am trying to clear up my phone and have an SD card (named disk in files), logged into Murena (free account, so not much storage, and don’t remember setting up cloud sync when setting up my handset.) Can someone please help with a step-by-step guide on how to see where everything is stored on my phone (ideally including WhatsApp, I use MicroG), so I can check the items/photos/apps are backed up before I delete. I haven’t managed to find anything online. I’m nervous to clear the phone until I have a better understanding.

Also, phone numbers, I released now I can pick where to save them, but is there a way to save all at once to back up, or figure out what is on handset, what has been merged over and what is on murena cloud?

Any help gratefully appreciated!

i can answer for photos,
they are where the camera is configured to store them
generally /DCIM/camera/

Where do I go to configure/or check configuration? As I have folders named this in a folders called “Fairphone”, “Dropbox”, and “Disk”. So I am wondering how to find the default.

into the camera app.

Apologies if I’m seeming very dull here, but I click on the camera icon and the only settings are regarding photo and videos. I’ve gone to Settings-Apps-Camera and again see nothing there.

I’ve taken videos/photos today and can not find them in Files-Fairpone (or Disk) when I sort in newest order, which is confusing, they are on my device, so have to be stored somewhere as I can view in gallery.

Do you have the file DCIM?

Yes I do in both

Files - Fairphone 6

and

Files - Disk

What is in the DCIM folder?

Hi Lidwien,

I just checked both the Disk and Fairphone DCIM files and sorted them in order of newest, which gave me my answer : ) It seems my default is to save to the device, not to SD card.

After searching online, I also do not believe I formatted my SD card as internal memory, so, from what I’ve read Apps can not be stored on the SD card, and therefore must be saved on the device.
