Hi. I have been having issues with incoming and outgoing calls on my FP3. It’s been going on for a few weeks now. Everything else (wifi/data/texts/calls via internet/…) works perfectly fine.
Calls are not ringing at all, and after some time they drop, without ever going through (the receiver never sees any incoming call). Same thing happens if someone tries to call me: no ringing and it drops (but goes to voicemail). I never receive the call.
I have two sim cards in my phone. The other sim card works in both slots (I can make and receive calls). The sim card in question does not work in either slot. However, it works in another phone.
I have started with turning off and on. I have checked the network settings and made sure the sim card is active for calls (and it is on preferred). Have taken out and replaced the sim card. I have tried network reset, reset app preferences, I have made a full factory reset of the phone. This is when I have checked on a different phone and tried both slots and the other sim card. I have then checked the phone app permissions, and cleared both cache and data from the phone app.
I have watched multiple videos, so I might have tried something else that I don’t remember.
I have found somewhere that reinstalling the last update could fix some installation bugs, but I cannot find how to do it.
Anybody knows how to reinstall an update, or has had the same experience and has found how to fix it?
I am still trying to have an answer from my provider. I’ll have to wait for tomorrow to try and contact them again, as they just told me to give them an alternative number they can contact me. Nova in New Zealand (the second sim is Sunrise from Switzerland, but it is way to expensive to rely on that one for phone calls here). Yes 4G is enabled. The sim is about 2 years old. The phone is from November 2019 (with a new battery from last year, only change made).
I had a similar issue on my fp3. With my sim card on the slot 1 the phone wouldn’t ring and the caller went straight to voicemail. However I was able to call other people without any issues.
I tried a bunch of things like you (restart/change settings) but nothing worked until I moved the sim to slot 2. I haven’t had any issues since. I only use one sim card so this solution worked for me and I didn’t dig any deeper.
However, while trying to understand what was going on, I took a look at the logs with adb logcat while receiving a call and you could definitely see some activity in the logs when the call came in, even though the phone stayed silent and failed to show the incoming call screen. So my guess is this isn’t an issue on the operator side.
Thank you. I went back and checked again the same settings! I feel so stupid: on the swiss Sim there is a VoLTE setting and a 4G setting. On the NZ sim there is 4G calling and a 4G setting… and for some reason I didn’t activate the calling one Don’t even remember seeing it… oh my.. thank you again for making me go back there!
