Hello everyone,
I just wanted to update my iode os to the latest security patch level without installing a new android version.
So for example my FP4 with iode 4.10 ( Android 13 ) with patch level from 5.2.2024 still has support for security patches - without updating to Android 14 or 15.
How can I install the newer patches?
I couldn’t find anything about this in the forums.
Many thanks and best regards
Stephan
I dont think that this is the case
You need to update that to iode os 6 for update support.
Its not easy to find in the web:
or
For Android 12 and 12L the support ended now in 2025 , but for Android 13 end of life ist in 2027, so far i got the right information.
So, how to update only an newer security patch?
you think that this feature - updating only security patches is now build in the newest iode?
Where did you find this information?
Thanks
Stephan
that only lists theoretical possibilities - that it is technically possible to add updated security patches to those Android versions, and some OEMs do that every now and then with their older devices that didn’t receive version upgrades.
custom ROMs, however, usually go with the latest Android version available if possible, and in order to do what you want, they would have to code an upgraded version of a ROM based on the older version.
This is just not possible if not done by the OS developer and IodeOS currently supported for FPs is based on Android 15 and you will not get any updates for Android 13 from Iode
Ok, thanks, i understand
the developers of iodeos are not working on updates of older versions -
i don’t know enough about android to know how much work it is to apply a patch. So users are forced to work with new android versions again and again - with all the advantages but also disadvantages…
