Hello,
For a few weeks now, the battery on my fairphone 3 has been draining in two days. Installing a new battery doesn’t solve anything. However, if I remove the sim card, the problem disappears. Is it possible that a faulty sim card could cause this problem?
Yes, absolutely.
AnotherElk, thank you for your response.
Unfortunately the replacement of my sim card doesn’t solve the problem. Any idea of what it could be???
Settings - Battery should have basic usage statistics, you could have a look if anything stands out.
With the SIM card involved one would expect e.g. “Mobile Network” to feature prominently.
But even if it does, it’s not completely in your hands to do something about it, as it can depend on mobile network coverage.
On my Fairphone 3 sometimes it’s one of the leading battery consumers, at other times it’s not a factor, and that’s when not using Wi-Fi, of course.
In hindsight, does the worsening of battery life coincide with some notable event perhaps (like OS update, Google Play services update, dropping the phone)? How long was battery life before for you?
If nothing helps, I guess there’s only retreat to the point that a battery “drain” is more commonly attributed to dramatic battery loss in a few hours or even worse, not so much in days.
Well, it turns out that in airplane mode my battery stops discharging too quickly. So it seems that all I can do is leave my FP in airplane mode…
