My Fairphone 3 doesn't charge fully anymore (changed bottom module and battery) - (Dutch Fairphone)

Hello beautiful people!

I have my Fairphone 3 since 2021 and since last month, it doesn’t fully charge again.

I’ve browsed the forums and tried all the tips there: I tried a bunch of different cables, ordered a new bottom module and replaced it, ordered a new battery… but… nothing seems to help.

My phone does charge a little (between 40-50%) when I turn it off and leave it on the charger for the night, but it’s not much compared to what it used to do.

Is there anything else I could try?

Thank you so much!

(I’m in the Netherlands by the way - and nothing weird happened to my phone. No heat or cold or water, the charging just got gradually more bad)

Have you updated to the latest software version? It happened to me this week (after more than a year without problems with charging) that it didn’t charge at the usual speed. However, it wasn’t consistent… sometimes, when I unplugged and plugged it back in, or maybe because I restarted the phone, it charged normally again.

It may not be related to the software update and maybe it’s just a coincidence… after all, the charging port and charging reliability doesn’t seem to be the FP3’s strong point (and, in any case, its battery is starting to get old).

I would advise you to reboot the device (if you haven’t already done so) and maybe try cleaning the charging port with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry thoroughly before reassembling it. Perhaps changing the battery or the charging port might also work, but ideally you could try swapping it with someone else who has a FP3 first, to make sure if that’s the problem.

Good luck, I hope the problem doesn’t go any further and is resolved soon :four_leaf_clover:.
