Music doesn't pause incoming calls in silent mode with wired earbuds

The music doesn’t pause when I receive an incoming call, when my Fairphone 6 is in silent/vibration mode and I am using wired earbuds (when using Bluetooth earbuds, the music does pause with incoming calls). This is very inconvenient, since I then completely miss my calls.

On all my previous phones this functioned normally and it is very frustrating that this does works only with Bluetooth earbuds and nog with wired ones (out of sutainability reasons I do not want to buy new earbuds only for this).

Are there any settings that I can adjust to make this function properly?

Could you indicate your OS Build number? Also earphones and DAC models,

It sounds as though silent mode is being confused with DND.

I suspect that this might be a bug. Have you contacted official support?

Do you have all the information you need?

  • Fairphone build nr: FP6.QREL.15.148.0
  • Android version: 15
  • Earphones: Mackie MP-120 BTA
  • Cable: Devine EM-CAB-MA audiokabel met microfoon/remote voor in-ear monitors

Just an idea : there might be a setting for your USB device related to calls. Can you in fact make calls with the USB device?

Certainly. Fairphone do not systematically read the forum, but you might point to a topic when you contact them.
In addition to the info you’ve provided above, it would likely be useful to tell them which apps you’re using for music. The fact that music is paused when using Bluetooth but not USB strikes me as a key point. Does this happen with all apps you use?

From reading this thread (though it doesn’t specify USB) I get the impression there may be some code in standard Android that needs to be corrected but that some OEMs are patching. Have a look around. I haven’t seen any case that exactly matches yours (silent mode, USB, receive call, no Android Auto).
