The upgrade to A15 worked flawlessy on my Fairphone 4, but since then I am having severe performance issues. Two notable examples:
Switching between apps or even showing the homescreen often takes several seconds.
MS Teams (work phone) calls have massive interruptions in the audio stream if another app becomes active, e.g. shows a notification, during the call, fixed only be ending and rejoining the call.
I would do a factory reset but as the fairphone is both my private and my work phone it would take me quite some time to get everything configured and running again, and I want to avoid that if at all possible.
I am using the Microsoft Launcher, could that be the culprit? (Seems unlikely to me because of the MS Teams issue which seems to be unrelated to the launcher?) Did anyone have a similar experience or does anyone have advice on how to get the phone to its A14-speed?
I completely understand that you don’t want to reset your phone to factory settings. I kind of expected that some issues might come up after the update, so I went ahead and reset my phone right away. So far, I haven’t experienced any of the problems you mentioned, and my battery life has actually improved by at least 20%.
As a workaround: if you have a second phone that you’re not using, you could try transferring your data using the standard “I have a new device” option, or with the Samsung Smart Switch app.
Did you in fact encounter performance problems or did you just reset on general principles?
@MechJayTi I didn’t encounter performance problems so chances are that a reset will help.
Lizard’s idea for using a spare phone as a “stepping stone” is good advice if you have or can borrow one.
