Sorry for entering the thread slightly off-topic, but I didn’t see any chance to contact @RMW as direct messages somehow didn’t work!
What type of magnetic connector is this, do you have a name/description or link for me?
And which power can be transferred for charging and which data rate is supported with the corresponding cable?
Thank you in advance for your answer!
You can reply in linked topic in such cases
I use NetDot10 cable/adapter, cant answer the rest as I dont use fast charging or ever checked data rate
Sorry, for posting in the “wrong” thread, but as I couldn’t message the user directly for my questions, I saw this as the only possibility to get in contact with him without losing the linkage to the picture he provided.
Almost certainly not @RMW’s magnetic connector, but worth a look if you do not require a budget option:
Run by two former Fairphone employees.
@yvmuell
Thank you for the hint, but it seems to be only available on Amazon (which I personally don’t support) and even there it’s not available ![]()
@urs_lesse
Thank you for sharing the link, but unfortunatly they only have the “plug” available in their store, but not the corresponding cable ![]()
Anyone else can provide info about an available cable with magnetic connector with the following specs:
- support for charging 45W+
- data transfer speed on USB3.0 level or above (min. 5Gbit)
- sleeved cable
Thanks for the more thorough check!
A bit concerning given that magnetic cables & connectors were what they started on. ![]()
My cable is a “ND100” manufactured by “NetDot” (www.netdottech.com).
Thank you for feedback, so it seems the same company as mentioned above by @yvmuell .
What is your experience with regards to charging power and data transfer speed?
So I’ll just have to find out which webshop in Germany offers the products!
I have also Netdot cables. Look carefully that it is charging and data. Not all magnetic cables do both.
That’s why I’m asking, magnetic charging cables are no problem, but I also need a reliable and fast data connection. I’m planning a universal phone dock (3d printed) in my car, where I want to be able to connect any device with stable data connection, even with the vibrations in the car or road holes. And I don’t have any experience how reliable and rigid these magnetic connections are for data.
Edit: typo
Both the cables from Netdot and the cables from Syllucid support only 480Mbps, which is USB 2.0 speed and not 3.x
