Loosing Wi-Fi and random restart

My phone looses the connection to the wifi at home and can’t be reconnected unless with a restart. But as soon as I restarted it, it will do reboots all the time on its own if not used.

If it is connected to the wifi and I switch to flight mode, it won’t loose the wifi connection.

This behavior occurs only in my private wifi at home.

Any ideas?

Which Version is installed on your phone? The newest one should be FP6.QREL.15.151.0

And does the wifi icon show you a “!” for that the wifi connection is probably not working? What if you going into flight mode for a short while; it’s working after that again?

Same problem for me. I am on Build Number FP6.QREL.15.151.0. I just got my fairphone 6 and copied my data from the old phone. Because of the random reboots I did a full reset of the phone and then did not copy any data from my old phone but the problem sadly still persits.

When the phone looses the wifi connection the wifi settings are not loading correctly and the phone is telling me that the settings app crashed. After a reboot this problem is solved but the random reeboots are still happening. I’ll try to use the airplane mode because it seems to be conncted. I searched these forums but there does not seem to be a solution right now (I wish to be corrected!).

Thanks for your input. I’m also experiencing those two issues but I guess we have to split both to get a clearer view and that they have nothing together at first.

To get more information about that and to specify the problem more precisely we should gather some important details from our phones for that “loosing WiFi” issue.

For the reboot issue there’s still a thread we should get on.

I’ll start

Device, color and version: Fairphone 6, green, FP6.QREL.15.151.0

Provider: Telekom Germany

Cellular Type: 5G, WLAN Call activated

Connected to when problem occurs: WiFi 6 to Fritzbox 7960 and 5G

Is the phone charging while error occurs?: No

Apps that won’t work: Amazon Prime Music, eBay, X, Instagram

Error description and what I’ve done to fix it as workaround:

For some reason suddenly some apps don’t work. I’m able to open apps but It’s showing me messages like “no properly data connection”. So the app won’t work at this point anymore. Special: surfing via firefox works without issues. Only some apps calling out that they have problems with connection.

It happens pretty much exactly when I have freshly unlocked the Fairphone.

Workaround: get into the flight mode for a short while and go back in normal mode.

I am just speculating right now here but I disabled location accuracy as reccomended for the restart bug that happened to phones in the US and Canada. Today my phone did not restart but it was connected to my Wifi the whole night. Maybe it is the case that the issue is not fixed for us in europe? Maybe try that setting out.

But I am not experiencing all the issues you are experiencing. But it is worth a try. The setting i changed is under: “Einstellungen –> Standortdienste –> Standortgenauigkeit”. For the english speaking audience it is something like: Settings –> Location services –> Location accuracy.

The location accuracy seems to use the Wifi and that has caused the problems for the phone in the US and Canada.

I also have issues with my home wifi on my FP6. Where it won’t connect or stay connected until I reboot. And even then sometimes it still won’t. I don’t have this issue at work or elsewhere as far as I know.

One observation is that at home, I’m on wifi 6, which isn’t very common yet. I’m wondering if the issue is related to that. Do you know if you’re on wifi 6?

I’ve had this problem for a while as well, every other day I wake up to my FP6 being disconnected from wifi and needing a reboot. There’s another thread about it here:

@AgentOrange96 my home wifi is wifi 6, so it’s possible that it’s related if that’s true for others as well.

Ooh I didn’t see that thread. I’ll reply there! Thanks!

I may turn my Wifi 6 off for a month and see if the isssue goes away.

closing here kindly follow-up in the already existing separate topics. thanks
