Context: I’m a dumb-phone user reluctantly looking to get my first smartphone (it’s becoming increasingly difficult to travel/order food/sign in to stuff for work without one unfortunately). I’m looking for a fairphone as I’m not a fan of the ethics and approach to obsolescence of the major phone companies, but I’m not looking for many bells and whistles, just something that can manage calls and texts, an MFA authenticator app and probably QR code reading. I don’t want something that will die within a year though, hence looking for fp3 or 4 as I’ve read mixed things about how stable fp3 is these days, so would appreciate opinions on whether fp4 is a better bet. I’m looking to spend as little as possible and I’m not bothered about cosmetic damage or having a good camera module etc. I’m new to the forum, so apologies if I’ve not followed the proper etiquette or anything like that.
I have just upgraded to FP 6 and am looking to sell my FP3+ but unsure whether to, when it worked well it was absolutely fine but there were becoming more regular incidents of 3rd party or system app crashes. I do carry a lot of apps on my phone as I am a mobile self employed business so I use it for email (3 accounts), WhatsApp and Signal communications, booking scheduler app and maps to navigate from client to client and from reading I think the FP3 just couldn’t handle it all going on.
I’ve only had the FP 6 a week so I was going to wait another week then wipe the FP 3 and see if the crashing resolves. If it does I would happily sell it to you in good conscience as it sounds like you would be a data-lite user
I’ve got a very lightly used FP3, I did upgrade the camera so it’s closer to a FP3+. Have a spare battery as well, unused. If you’re near Staffordshire you could collect for free.
I’m not particularly near Staffordshire unfortunately (I’m in Manchester) but I’d be happy to pay for postage if that works? I’ll see how CazP gets on with testing the fp3+ first though if that’s alright as I assume a slightly newer model would have a bit more lifespan (assuming it’s working fine with the apps removed)
I did a factory reset on the FP3+ and then downloaded Pokemon Go and got my son to play on it for half an hour, I also browsed a few websites and no crashing so I’m happy it’s in good order. You can see there is general wear to the back and case, it has a screen protector on it (there’s a linear air bubble at the top), but I will include a spare screen protector. I replaced the bottom mic last year and bought a new battery in April, I kept the old one as a backup so will include that too.
A trade-in website was going to give me 40 quid for it so I would happily sell to you for 50 including tracked postage. Let me know if you’re still interested.

PS: ah I have just removed the screen protector to give it a good clean and realized the ‘air bubble’s is in fact screen damage . A new display is $75 on the Fairphone shop so you can have it for postage only if you’d like it.
Ah shame about the screen damage, but if it’s still working fine without crashes then I’ll definitely give it a go. If you could private message me with your details I can pay you via PayPal?
