Looking to buy a used Fairphone 2 from someone. Doesn’t have to be in perfect condition just so long as it works. Don’t mind about OS/cameras either.
Would need it shipped to Australia
Thanks in advance!

Be aware, that cross-border shipment of batteries outside a phone is virtually impossible for individuals .

I hope you are aware that there is a deficit on availability for the bottom module which seems to be very vulnerable.
@JohnHughes (thanks again) send me two broken bottom Modules some days ago. This one has a defekt µUSB port.
After disassembling I took a picture with a microscope camera and found some solder cracks. Barely to see without magnification. Two cracks at the shield contacts that I am not too worry about, but also one at contact 5. I am sure that was a slack joint. Some serious force must be acted to the Port.
I will try to resolder the joints and hope the bottom module will be able to do its work…
As fairphone angel (in Berlin) I have a lot of support cases with nonfunctional microphones in the bottom modul. A lot of users have minimum the 2nd, often the 3rd bottom module. Mostly easily changed by Fairphone support in warranty.
But there is a lot of waste (I collect old faulty modules and send them back for recycling).
So my questions:
Did anyone successfully repaired the microphone inside the bottom module by soldering a new smd microphone?
What’s the reason for the highly rate of f…

Yep I’ve heard of those issues. I’m mostly after one to mess around with a bit so reliability isn’t a massive concern for me. Thanks for pointing it out though.

Might be helpful to say hello and link to your search here as well:
G’day mates.
Thought it was about time a dedicated forum could be about Fairphone related topics to Australia. I know a lot of people with FP travel or come to live in Australia and there are already a few discussions around that. (cue @Stefan ) There’s quite a few Australians who have sourced their FP via European friends, and so obtaining new parts or service is a bit more of an ordeal. There’s also a lot of people interested in getting Fairphones as their next phone, but pending good report…

Just to note: currently sending from EU (at least Germany) it is very expensive (~45-60€) or it might take ages to arrive and without tracking. Even the premium option currently takes more than 4 weeks to arrive in New Zealand and I guess its the same to Australia…
