Okay, to reproduce this issue I have to set the location mode to "High Accuracy" or "Device Only" (but as opposed to paulkreuzer I have agreed during the first setup to let google improve the location accuracy, so this could be also relevant) and then follow the steps of jpderuiter:
- Turn Location on
- Start any app using your location (like Google Maps)
- Now the location icon will show
- Close Google Maps
- Turn location off
- The Location icon will stay on
If I use the mode "battery saving" the location icon does not appear at all (which is okay, I believe, as it should only appear when the gps device is working).
However, I can not quite reproduce jpdruiter's comment concerning wifi: for me the icon is also visible if I have switched off wifi all the time (for example since the last re-boot).
@werner_noebauer: You can check whether gps is indeed used/ switched on all the time by looking at the battery consumption data (Settings->battery (German: Einstellungen-> Akku) and then click on "use since last full charge" (German: "Verbrauch seit letztem vollem Aufladen") where you can see the information "GPS on". If there is a bold, continous green line until under "GPS on", it means that GPS was indeed switched on all of the time). For me it seems as if gps is switched off even though the gps icon appears all of the time.
