We are proud to support living wages for workers at our final assembly partner. Just want to give you a quick update on the progress so far.
From September 2019 to August 2020, a total of 302 workers have received a bonus of up to 785 Euro per person. This equals over 3 months of salary if you earn the local minimum wage.
The bonus is paid to factory workers who earn less than a living wage. That includes production line workers who work on Fairphone products as well as factory workers who don’t work on Fairphone products but earn less than a living wage.
Going forward, we will pay a bonus of 1,85 USD per phone to workers (moving up from 1,68 USD). Our contribution increased because there are now a few more workers on the Fairphone production line than when we started one year ago. To reflect that, our contribution also increased.
