FP 6 was charging on the wall outlet while I was using it. At some point it stopped to charge. Battery is running low quickly. I had this issue with a previous device. It has been replaced. Same problem again. Charger/ cable check ok, they are compatible. Forced restart ok. Wall outlet ok. Any suggestions?
Hello and welcome to the community forum.
The replaced device with the same issue, was it also FP6? Have you got any feedback on what was wrong?
I read you said you double checked the socket, the charger and the cable so forgive me for asking that anyway - have you tried different chargers, cables, sockets?
Thank you for reaching out and for the welcome!
Yes, the replaced device was also a FP6. I havenāt got a feedback. I tried with 2 cables and one charger which are working normally on another device (and which were doing fine with the FP6 until now). It didnāt work also with a powerbank. The problem came back while I was charging and using the phone at the same time: Could that be an issue???
Thanks for clarifying. I donāt have FP6 and while I understand it is not always advisable to charge a phone and use it, I do that all the time
I think it shouldnāt be the issue.
Did any of the phones got unusually warm?
No, not really.
In case you or others have any ideas, I appreciate it, and Iāll be checking answers tomorrow. I need to go now. Thank you very much, Meaghan!
I had the same problem with my new FP6 after just a few days of receiving it. It also would not connect to android auto. I got intermittent notifications that the usb port had fluid or debris but the usb port looked clean and I had cleaned it. I got intermittent notifications that the phone was connected but not charging but sometimes this was when it was not connected or was charging. I sent it for repair and oddly the repairer said the problem was slow charging even though I had said it was no charging or connection at all. Their report said they replaced FP6 Sub PCBA v3 which I think is a circuit board and this did not appear to work. They then replaced the USB port which I think did work. It looks like they also put in a new battery but Iām not sure that was the issue because the problem was any connection via USB rather than charging specifically. A few days after return it is working OK. They also said they had done a āsoftware update (preventive)ā and Iām not sure what this means other than just making sure the software was up to date? I emailed the repairers a few days ago to ask what they thought the problem was and they have not replied. Iām assuming it was the USB port. (By the way it seems the phone was flown from the UK to France for repair which seems mad environmentally, but thatās another issue).
Did you clean the usb-c port yet with a tooth pick? Mine gets full of dust now and then so it wonāt charge properly.
I had similar problem with my FP5. It also reported water in the USBc port and didnāt charge properly. I tried different chargers and cables but finally the solution was to change the USB port. I made it myself with the video instructions although Iām not a technical champion
.
With my new FP gen 6 I didnāt have any problems until now for 6 months.
To add to my post above, the repairers got back to say the problems were the daughterboard and the test USB flex cable. These were replaced. I had only had the phone a few days so worrying such parts can be faulty so quickly.
Really interested by this string. A few weeks ago my new FP 6 stopped charging (and got warm), sent it off for repair, charging failure recurred, so sent it off again⦠problem reckoned to be triggered by occasional use of older charger. Now I am only using high spec fast charger. Whatever the cause(s) the FP guidance on this seems inadequate: it recommends but does not require use of a FP charger. Yet the FP charger for the UK is unavailable. So then you have to search out the technical guidance on what is required, and work out how to apply it to the various offerings that appear on line. Doubtless easy for some⦠but not how I had planned to spend my retirement⦠fingers crossed - it will be ok, now.
Yes, FP say use your old cables, which is admirable environmentally, but I have picked up that some are not suitable so would be good to have more guidance on that. I had to get a cheap spare phone while my FP6 was off for repair (which did kind of counteract the plan to move from an unethical phone company to an ethical one) and that did not have any adverse consequences from the use of various old and new chargers. My repaired FP6 on the other hand gets very hot if you use a fast charger so I get the urge to use an older slower one. Rob, any tips on what chargers you found suitable or not would be appreciated!
Thanks, Luke - interesting. The charger I am most confident in is a UGreen Nexode 65 Watt Model CD306. But frankly, until i have had a few weeks problem-free, I am not sure of anything. The older one that (may have) caused the problems was for a Lenovo tablet bought some years back.
In the settings it is possible to turn off fast charging.
Thanks, yes, Iāve used that setting but the phone should be able to handle fast charging.
Hello Estrela,
you wrote āBattery is running low quickly.ā I think, this is not only a charger problem. Sometimes it happens to me (FP5), that some app or the system get into an odd state and consume too much resources. Then it might seem that the charger is not working. After restarting Android, everything works fine again.
I do not say, that you have the same problem. But if it is only the charging function not working, your battery would not run low quickly (depending in what you are doing with your phone).
Kind regards,
Thomas
P. S. : until now (FP5 for 2 years) I never had problems with different chargers or cables.
I bought my FP6 in late May/early June, and by mid-June it would no longer charge. After three days, it suddenly started working again, so I thought everything was back to normal.
Unfortunately, that wasnāt the case. Two weeks ago, it stopped charging again, and now itās turned off and nothing works anymore.
I just chatted with the AI (it was awfulāit really, really annoyed me). Now I have a support ticket to submit and sending it in.
Iām glad things are moving forward, but Iām extremely annoyed that this seems to happen often and that Iām now stuck without a smartphone for weeksāright after buying a new one⦠:-/
