A variety of devices use file-based encryption (FBE) now, not full-disk encryption (FDE). I think they are the majority (FBE has some user experience improvements, specially the accesibility ones), but I don’t know for sure. I guess the FP2 uses FBE too when using Lineage OS Pie onwards.
Now, the fact is that things has changed, but that’s not saying that data security went any better or the encryption design is perfect now, specially if they still rely on obscure implementations of TrustZone or whatever. Thanks for your heads-up, that was an interesting read!
