Is Fairphone B.V. struggling?

In their new impact report, they give a draft view of their financial state in 2024. They managed to have a positive EBITDA in 2024, but lost a lot in 2023.

The Impact Report does not in my view suggest struggling. I would say it’s pretty impressive.

To put this data in the perspective, they are calculating a negative EBITDA in 2025, most likely due to the new launches.

But I am honestly puzzled by the hiring strategy. I follow them on LinkedIn and they are hiring, there has also been quite a big rotation in management staff, and they let some people go in 2024 as well, or to be more precise restructured and cut some roles. But they also hired 44 new members of staff?

My guess is that they are redirecting support to business clients and are also enjoying higher sales at the moment, there seems to be a growing number of reviews on trustpilot.

It feels that frustration shared on the forum and other spaces with the support delays has not caused yet a significant shift in priorities. I honestly hope for the change and a thriving community of happy customers, one can wish for;-)

Be that as it may, in the meantime a few early adopters are being left in the cold. If I can’t get a reply through FP’s own channels I have little other recourse than to complain through the market authorities. I’ve been waiting for a reply for more than 2 months and they are simply ignoring me.
