Installing Windows on Fp4

Dear friends.
Does anyone have good experience with installation of windows on a Fairphone 4.

You cannot install Windows on a Fairphone or any Android smartphone for that matter.

Windows Phone / Windows 10 Mobile have been dead for a long time now, and when they were alive, they came with their own set of phones and were not freely installable.

Is there anything recent or any reference which brought on this question?

No. Sorry. I just thought it would be possible to use it as a costume rom.

This is technically possible, but I doubt there are drivers out there for the fairphone or the SoC in the fairphone. (check out the Renegade Project).

However, you can always run a virtual machine on your phone of windows on arm.

Hadn’t heard of this yet, thanks for the pointer.

Do you have any personal experience with that?

Looking at Support Status | Renegade Project my impression would be that this is far from daily driver ready. E.g. the camera or audio is not (fully) supported on any SoC, cellular calls available on just one. Almost half the SoCs can’t connect to wifi, bluetooth or cellular data.
Seems to me the best devices to try this right now are the Mix 2s and PocoPhone F1 by Xiaomi (lower table on the status page).

No, I haven’t played around with it. It was just the first thing that pops up, when you google windows on android phone.

I also doubt it will ever be maintained enough to be a daily driver ready kind of thing. It just exists because some people thought they can.

The virtual machine route sounds the best to me, if you don’t need to run graphically demanding things. Otherwise streaming from a windows machine is also totally viable.
