Incoming Call -> Press accept -> lock Screen-> Pin Input -> Now we talking?!

Since the last 3-4 Updates my Fairphone 6 behaves weird with incoming calls. I receive a call I press accept (even with a good finger, it sometomes takes 2-3 tries) then i get the lock screen. Now I Have to unlock and if I am lucky enough and fast as hell, I can actually receive the call. I am not old, I can use a laptop, pc, mobile phone eversince one existed, but this behaviour is just bad, to say it mildly ! I have not tempered my phone or installed some weird stuff. Any Ideas on how to fix it? I have tried the setting for incoming calls from sliding to button. Still the same cascade for the problem as the topic suggest. Thx.

Welcome to the community forum.

You haven’t mentioned which app you’re using for Phone calls, I’m assuming the stock Phone app.
Could you indicate the OS software version that you’re running? Go to Settings > About phone > Build number and report the value.

I’m assuming that you’re not using any special privacy / security tools that might be relevant, nor any special accessibility options.

I’m assuming OS and apps are up to date. I’m assuming for the moment you’re running stock Fairphone Android.

With the current version of Phone app, you would normally be offered a central button which you slide to the right to accept a call, and slide to the left to reject the call. If that’s not the case, open the Phone app, menu top left > Settings > Incoming call gesture, and choose Horizontal swipe. Then test.

Are you using Theft Detection Lock? It’s just possible that might be interfering with your ability to answer calls.
Settings > Security and privacy > Device unlock > Theft protection

It’s possible that your Phone app doesn’t have the required permissions to behave “normally”. You’ll have noticed that in your present configuration, it’s not possible to receive a call without the phone being unlocked. That can be seen as a security measure. Most phones allow calls to be taken even if the screen is locked, but of course that means that “anyone” can pick up the phone when it rings.

I suggest you go to
Settings > Apps > All apps > Phone > Permissions > 3-dot menu top right > All permissions

Under Other app capabilities make sure you see “display notifications as full screen activities on a locked device”. If you don’t, post back here and we’ll look into it.

Hi OldRoutard, thanks for the ellaboration. My Build is FP6.QREL.16.48.0.

Yes I am using the stock phone app. I have theft protection, so maybe it is that?

I went to that 3 dot menu and I can see “display notifications as full screen activities on a locked device“ Is that a good sign?

Hi, I was actually also experiencing this on Android 15, but haven’t found a reliable way to reproduce the issue, nor have I experienced it on Android 16.

For me it happens only when unlocking with the fingerprint sensor (and only sometimes). I usually stumble upon it with normal use, rarely when there is an incoming call.

The phone is in some kind of semi-unlocked state. I can’t launch apps, navigation gestures don’t work, but I can interact with the currently open app. Changing anything in the quick settings triggers pin entry, which actually doesn’t work.

The only solution I have is to relock the device and then wake the screen without triggering the fingerprint sensor and only then unlocking with a fingerprint.

It would be great if we could find a way to reproduce this.

Thanks for the info.

Yes, that is as it should be.

Did you change back to the slider for accepting calls? It’s in the Phone app, menu top left > Settings > Incoming call gesture. Choose “Horizontal swipe”.

I suggest you disable “Theft protection”.
On my side, I’ll enable it and we’ll see what happens!

@Ma_Meise , @kwasow I suggest that you both report this to official FP Support.

Quick Update.

I disabled theft protection and activated the sliding. So far I did not have to unlock the screen, Which is great.
