I seem to be having a problem with my FP2. I am in Italy now, but cannot make or receive phonecalls or sms.
Have you been able earlier to make calls and send messages abroad?
Have you turned on Roaming?
Did you make sure that your provider settings allow using your SIM abroad? (May be possible to check that in your online account settings of your provider, or by asking your provider).
If roaming is allowed, did you get an SMS when you crossed the boarder? You should read it well and follow the instructions inside.

The problem was solved when connecting to a network manually.
