Hello Fairphone community! I’ve just logged in to discuss making calls in the UK. I’m looking for tips and advice on getting the best calling experience with my Fairphone. Let’s chat!
Welcome to the community
Please add the specific type/generation of your Fairphone – FP3, FP4, FP5?
Hi William I’ve been on EE for 3 years with my FP4 and I’ve had no issues. My sister’s on O2 for about 1 year with her FP4 and no problems there either. It looks like a few people have had problems with Three mobile, if you wish to check through the forum for their posts.
Hi William, welcome to the community.
I am using an FP4 in the UK since February 2022, initially on Tesco Mobile (an MVNO on O2), then with 1p (Penny) mobile and now with spusu; both 1p and spusu are MVNOs on EE.
The phone worked fine on Tesco, (though probably before Tesco offered 5G); I switched for better value.
1p mobile is excellent coverage and supports all features of the phone including 5G data and WiFi calling. However, it now requires a £10 top-up every 2 months (i.e. £5/ month) on PAYG and they also offer a range of bundles.
I switched to spusu again to reduce cost (I’m on their “spusu 1 special” plan for £2.90/ month with unlimited minutes and texts, 500 free minutes on calls to the EU, and 1GB data per month which is more than I need and excellent value). The problem with spusu is that they don’t support WiFi calling on any FP phone; however, this is not an issue as I have excellent mobile signal in my house. I heartily recommend spusu for value, and they have a range of other plans with more mobile data.
For reference, spusu don’t support 5G data on my wife’s Pixel 6a, although she had 5G service on 1p - go figure!
Hope that helps!
