The app icons sometimes move around. I want them to stay where I put them. How to do this?

Could you please explain which software or which launcher you are using?
And are you talking about the whole home screen or just the icons in the bottom line? Or something else?
It’s FP5 5G currently Android version 15. Not the bottom line, the upper part. The screen I see when I turn it - I don’t know whether this is called the lock screen or the home screen.
My previous other phone had an option to lock the icons where I had put them. Can’t find such an option on Fp5. Can I do it?
I don’t think so, but as you need to hold them for a while and move them to a different position afterwards I don’t know how that should happen by accident.
What was your previous phone?
My last phone was a Xiaomi Mi9 .

Settings > About phone > Build number (right at the end of the list)
and report the Build number, as requested by Incanus.

Hi, I recommend using Nova Launcher. You can lock the App Icons and you can make a backup of your Home Screen with all Icons an Widgets and their positions. You will be able to restore that backup even to your next Mobile if ever necessary.
Nova Launcher, duh!! Thank you but that’s too technical for me. I concentrate on computers and hope to keep my phone stuff as simple as possible! I don’t want the Icons in these positions forever as I rearrange them when I add new ones. I just would prefer them not to move around voluntarily! I’m hoping I can find a simple way to do that.
Sorry, but I still don’t get how the icons are hopping around? If you are not shifting them to a different position on purpose, nothing moves.
