Hey all. My Fairphone display came loose and effectively broke, the BTB cable getting ripped up before I could re-attach the display. So, I ordered a new display and am trying to change it with the instructions, but I find the instructions lacking.
While the video says where about to connect the BTB cable in the main unit, which I already knew, it is neither said nor showed how it connects there. As long as I’m not sure I’m doing it right I don’t dare to press with much force because I’m afraid I’ll damage the parts that look quite fragile. Anyone able to explain me how the BTB cable connects with the main unit?
Maybe it helps someone else, but for me it shows the same thing as the video: where the cable should be connected, which is obvious because the old cable was in the same place. But I can’t for my life figure from that how the cable is supposed to connect. I mean I had found this as well. I have also seen several other instructions, but none of them shows me what I need to know: how the cable attaches to the main unit.

Thanks. I had also checked that as well, found it when I searched this forum for an earlier reply to my problem. While this is also infinitely better than the fairphone instruction video, tbh it mostly served to increase my nervousness about pressing the cable. The instruction to “align the connector carefully over its socket and press down with your fingertip—first on one of the short sides, then the other—until it clicks into place”, I think this is what I’m trying to do.
Btw, just as a sidenote, I find it a bit troubling that fairphone’s own instructions say nothing of the sort. No warning about pressing from the middle, no mention of clicking the sides firtst. Just, press it somewhere in that general direction until it clicks.
This is actually the solution. The step 6 of the instructions gives the correct advice: press one side first, then the other. Press gently, and hold the already pressed side in place while pressing the other side. The “click” is not really audible or even notieable. It’s rather just that the piece stops moving back if you release pressure. If this doesn’t happen, don’t apply more pressure, just adjust the piece a little.
