Then I guess you need to change the background color, as other colors are changed automatically to match the color scheme.
Hello, I think this can be achieved without changing the background. Long tap on the home screen should take you to the wallpaper and style ( you can also search for it in the settings) where you can choose colours palette. Tapping three dots next to the colours should result in a following screen

The phone definitely looks better in the dark thema.
and i believe its better for our eyes, but ofcourse im not a expert.
Also possible to reach the setting here:
settings → screen → enable dark mode.
Sometimes its necessary to manually enable dark mode / dark thema in some apps and website’s.

In my case it was Google websites that needed a second trigger (email and agenda).

and the Fairphone community form: settings → interface → dark mode and set to WCAG Dark.

and OSMAnd+ needed some changes. this app for example have a lot of options for the dark mode.
it will probably take some time before you find the settings that fits you best.
Be aware some websites and apps do not have a dark mode available at all, and will still use the light colors for the background after opening it. the Fairphone app for example.
If you wish to, you can contact the company behind those apps or websites to request that it be added in the future.

I personly can’t stand any dark themes, they hurt my eyes. So no, it definitely doesn’t look better this way

ofcourse its something personal.
light thema is default for a reason, its the most popular.
Dark mode saves battery on OLED displays, doesn’t sound convincing?
