Here's a quick update from our side

These are nothing but empty promises. I’m at week 11 waiting for any reply to my support ticket now. This is completely unacceptable.

Launching new phones. Great! Everyone buying a fairphone 6 should be aware that the whole “sustainability” and “long warranty” are just marketing. When your phone breaks, you’re SOL and have nothing but E-Waste. Support will just never reply to you.

Hello to the Fairphone Team,

Next week it will be two months since this topic about Android 15 was started. Since then, there has once again been nothing but silence. I think this is frustrating for many Fairphone 4 users like me. I know the announcement says that there will be new information as soon as there is something concrete to report. But for me and I think for many others it would be important to know if there are delays and why (e.g. currently perhaps due to problems with Android 15 for Fairphone 5). Many people who are convinced by the idea of Fairphone will understand justified delays if the problems that lead to them are communicated openly.

I myself am a software developer and know that there is never enough time in this profession. But the time I invest in keeping in touch with those who use what I do is not wasted time.

Best regards!

Robert

That’s nice! When will there be customer service? My (warranty) enquiries were set to “resolved” without any response.

All this talk of sustainability and promises of long-term support is obviously just marketing. If the device is defective, you have electronic waste. And that’s after just one year.

Very disappointing. You feel cheated.

The only thing that works is the advertising for a new Fairphone.

I prefer a working FP4 running Android 13 rather than with an unreliable, sluggish A15.

But Android 13 is going out of support, thus Fairphone has no other choice to keep the phone secure, to keep some apps running and therefore the phone useable.

But Android 13 is going out of support, …

in 2027. So time enough to develop a reliable A15

Early 2026, most probably.
Your source wouldn’t be Futurezone, by any chance?

early 2026 what? going out of support A13 or A15 release ?

Early 2026 seems to bei correct. My source was obviously bad (KI-generated). Sorry.

A (rhetorical) question to the Fairphone Management:

Does the development team for the Fairphone Operating System have enough resources to provide software for four Fairphone models? And if not, what is the point of releasing a new Fairphone model every two years?

Regards!

Hi I have a farphone 4 and was wondering where you are in terms of rolling out the android 15 update for the farphone 4.

Hi Fairphone Team

Any news about the release date meanwhile?

Really, I like the idea of sustainability, but two weeks ago I was nearly forced to send my Fairphone to scrap, when our company decided not to support Android 13 phones anymore. I had to deal with our security guys for a limited exception…

I hope you’ll unterstand, if I’m forced to buy a new phone because of Fairphone’s insufficient Dev pipeline, it will not be a FP6 for sure!

Please give us more insights about your progress! Thanks.

Hi Sarah,

It looks like there will be no update to Android 15 for Fairphone 4. If so, does Fairphone have a plan for Fairphone 4 users? Perhaps a replacement of the motherboard with SoC or a better price for the Fairphone 4 when switching to Fairphone 6?

Best regards,

Robert

Where did you get this info from? I would kindly ask to avoid spreading info thats not validated…so any proof for this statement?

No manufacturer did the update for this SoC until now and no other manufacturer even tried to promise to bring A14/15 update to this SoC. Samsung even officially claimed this SoC is EOL and does not support latest Android. FP management is trying to calm down users and extinguish their broken promises by silence.

Please take into account that Fairphone updated the FP2 up to Android 9 when at some point the net was full of articles explaining why that SoC would never get an upgrade to Android 7.
