Moments was one of the heaviest marketed parts of the Fairphone 6 when it was announced, but we’ve seen basically no updates or improvements to it since launch despite myself and others giving feedback both publicly and privately. It was open sourced in December 2025 (GitHub - fairphone/fairphone-moments: Source code of Fairphone Moments (Android) · GitHub), but there hasn’t been any commits, replies to issues or merged pull requests since then.
Has the Fairphone team effectively abandoned the product?
Please ask this to support. However, is this a public accesible info? I would be very surprised when there is a github development page publicly visible, so whatever this is I dont think it shows they abandon this
It never was monitored by support and is hardly monitored in general by FP. Log out and read the info
Noticed and still dont think that this is to give the public infos about development progress, they havent done this since the FP3 so since 2019 there is no public bug tracker to report issues and view progress
i use the switch for do-not-disturb, it’s quite all right. i’ve never used Fairphone Moments per se. it’s true that it was heavily used in the communication, but it’s a gimmick, i thought
there are quite a few problems with the action in itself
it’s fun to have a real clickable thing to fidget with, and the action is kinda satisfying
the slider is a bit janky and gets activated by mistake
the trough gets dirty and it’s hard to clean that up
there isn’t a real feedback for activation. we might think single vibration, or a pop up alert, like with the iPhone
I’ve just got a new FP6, wondered what the weird yellow switch was for, and found myself in this “moments” thing. It does feel very contrived, and doesn’t to me seem particularly useful. A very “marketing person’s bright idea”.
Once I worked out you can choose what the switch does I changed it to operate the torch, which is the thing I most often want to use without having to unlock!
My Moment App is broken since two updates, nobody answered to my forum post, I saw this Git and wasn’t sure it was official, I’m shocked to learn that it is. I kinda knew the software team at FP wasn’t their priority, but being with my 7month old FP6 already with issues makes me kinda regret my 600€
