GPS worse and worse

Hey all,
I use my GPS mainly on Strava, for the last years this has worked well both on my late FP2 as on my now 3 or 4 years old(I keep forgetting) FP4. I noticed that about a year ago, whenever there was a software update, my phone would have some GPS issues the days after, only in Strava, not for example in the Ride Sigma app. These issues are getting worse and worse now and I can actually not use Strava anymore as it keeps adding kilometers to my runs and rides at ridiculous speeds and straight through rivers and traintracks.
Strangely, this doesn’t seem to be much of an issue in the other apps using GPS.
any clue what could be the cause, all my tech friends stop at “just buy a new phone” but that evidently isn’t going to happen

Did you try to reinstall the Strava app? I think all data would be there after installation as it’s saved in your account. It may IMHO still be worth a test…

Try the app GPSTest to check wether yor GPS module is faulty.

Or Google Maps: does the location indicator show high accuracy (small or even no circle arraund the location point)?

Strava App: is Strava allowed to use the exact location?

I’m having the same issue. Did GPS checks, did try different apps, did contact the support.

It’s taking very long to adjust to my licatiin and than loosing me every other moment.
Having this issue almost from the beginning.
But it got worse over the last year or so.

It mostly finds me kind of…but just a couple of meters off my position.
Some times I got wrong navigation and was mislead for that. Now I can just trust the navigation driving on the left most line. Otherwise it’s locating me off the highway.

Maybe someone from FP can give a statement on that. As they want to be more present here, they may have read that.

Might be worth talking to the app publishers and see if there’s a user forum. Similar problems may have been seen on other devices and OS.

Your chances will still increase to reach them if you contactsupport , if you haven’t done so yet.

Did this twice.
Once at the beginning and once a few months back.
Both times the same reply.

  1. Pleas try this and this and this
  2. Oh we didn’t know this before, our developers are on it.

And I knew both times that I was not the first one to reply…

Also, try to remove and reseat back the back cover of the phone with the antennas. Apply good pressure on all places of the back cover. This helped me at least once.
