Google Smartlock for FP1

I have a FP1, with FP OS. From what I can see, Google Smartlock doesn’t work (exist) on my phone. Can I work around this somehow? Maybe by switching to Android OS?

I just had to look up Google Smartlock, I didn’t know what it is…

Fairphone OS basically is Android (Jelly Bean 4.2.2). However Google Smartlock doesn’t seem to be available in Android versions prior to 6 (Marshmallow).

Note: Some of this information may not apply to all devices because Android isn’t exactly the same on every device. These instructions are for devices with Android 6.0 and up.

I’m afraid the FP1 will never be upgraded to Android 6, so it won’t be available for your phone.

PS.: But I think that there are apps, which can achieve similar functionality as Google Smartlock, for example this one (I’ve not tried it*).

*It might drain your battery, so stop using it, if your battery lasts significantly shorter than before installing it.
