Google assistant not working with screen off and locked

Hi I bought my Fairphone 5 from amazon UK I am so far loving the experience and the stock OS. There is just one feature getting in the way and I cannot get a straight answer. I heavily reliant on Google assistant to make calls and quickly tell Google maps to navigate me somewhere hands free.

This works fine when the screen is on and unlocked however it does not want to know when locked and off mic access is on I have set relevant permissions and trained my voice several times to no avail

I am savy enough to change the bootloader and the stock os however that appears to be the option for the anti Google user may or may not help my situation.

Is there a known issue I have not picked up on? Is there an alternative app that I can command with the screen off?

I am aware of the cafine app that can keep the device awake but it’s battery intensive I don’t want to go down that route of killing the battery early for the sake of a command I will give once or twice a day.

Hi @3lTel

maybe you already dit, just to be sure.

have you changed the battery setting of all Google apps how are related to Google Assistant to onrestricted?

all apps will be on balanced from default, what give all kind off issues i noticed, not recemment to change all apps to onrestricted, just those how give issues.

greetings

Tom

Have just tried again after giving all Google apps full unrestricted access to battery usage changes nothing I might add I’m using a Bluetooth headset but the phone does nothing with headset on or off

I never tested this on android 13 I upgraded as soon as I set the phone up. Is this a thing developers have turned off? I know from other posts that always on display has been turned off with no option to turn or or configure behind the os?
