FP6+ USA Carrier Discussion 🇺🇸

What’s your experience with the FP6+ and USA cellular carriers? Good, Bad, Quirks?

So far, my experience has been great!

I’m on T-Mobile MNVO, and compared to the pixel 6 I was using previously there is a huge difference. The deadspots and botched handoffs in my area are no longer are in issue  Kudos to Fairphone!

How’s the experience on AT&T?
Anyone try an already activated Verizon SIM even though fairphone states not compatible?

i’m curious about a few things from carrier-compatibility | Fairphone about T-Mobile, maybe someone has an answer or maybe i’ll open a ticket and see if they can provide more info:

  1. “Advanced carrier aggregation features cannot be guaranteed.” and “5G Standalone (SA) limitations” - wish they would expand on this… I wonder are they speaking of hard device/modem limitations, or just network limitations when signal is not ideal? unfortunately I haven’t been able to determine if CA is active with cellmapper, LTE discovery, field test, etc. However, the FP6+ seems to hold onto a 5G SA connection just fine, including VoNR.
  2. “n25 Support” Fairphone states the device is compatible with n25, yet watching the aforementioned apps, I’ve never seen the device connect to n25. not a huge deal, but I noticed the device always connects to only n41 or n71. for example, if i’m on the edge of an n41 cell, the device always drops straight to n71 after reaching the end of n41 coverage. I know n25 is available in the area, as it’s been mapped with cellmapper and my former pixel 6 would always park on this band at my home. The FP6+ always parks on n41 at home. (probably due to stronger modem  )

To answer the question with n25, the FP6 don’t support 5G n25 only LTE B25. You can see the supported network bands at the Global Coverage support site.

thanks, Yeah good chance it doesn’t if FP6 doesn’t support n25, but they’ll need to fix this then: (from the link in my OP)

This is the summary of supported LTE and 5G Bands for FP6 and 6+, so i think they made a mistake to list n25 in the United States summary. n12, n13, n14 and n26 for a full U.S. 5G coverage (some of this frequency bands will be refarmed from LTE in the coming years) are missing, too.

just to follow up on this: I did contact Fairphone Support. They do still claim the FP6+ does support n25, and the most up-to-date information will be noted on the carrier compatibility page. (I linked in OP)

we’ll see if this ever changes… FP6+ still doing well though overall in cellular reception so far.
