I’m new to fairphone and overall I’m pleased about the product. ofc the repair options where one of the main reason to buy the FP6. I’m a person that use hardware as long as possible while focus on having a secure and up to date system I still want to have also a high useability… My last phone I used nearly 8 years thanks to LineageOs…
For me only a few things are not so nice on FP6:
The positions of the volume buttons not feel natural and while the unintended screenshot function can at least be turned of, the issues it causes with universal car smartphone holders is imho way more annoying. These often grab the phone from both sides and turn the volume down.
Based in the point above I really miss a case addon that supports Magsafe - this would solve the above mentioned car holder issue.
The official case have way to less grip, while the FP6 itself have a better one. I hope for custom cases on the market to be better…
The official case makes it hard to press the power button to turn off the screen. Here I also hope for a custom case that have the power button included in the same way as the official one do with the volume buttons.
The "Switch” on the right is too limited in the options. I would like to be able to have a selection of contact group labels that are allowed to contact me when activated, instead of favourits. E.g. having a contact label “customer” to be selected during work hours… Hopefully such will be added in Future
Not found so far an option to quickly activate the flashlight (via shaking or double press a button) - am I blind?
Having an alternative (most likely unofficial) case with Magsafe support would solve the main issues I have with the FP6…
most of the things you mention relate to the case, so I was a bit torn whether not to merge your topic (still a few things you mention do not so I will leave it)
anyways
the topic for the search of a perfect case is here
I don’t know which OS you’re using, but with e/os there’s a toggle that lets you hold down the lock button for a second to turn the flashlight on/off. It’s at settings/system/buttons.
