Looks like they were.
Happy to report that the update did indeed fix this issue. Turned everything back on and phone is working without any flaws now ![]()
Does not work for me! After update, my phone rebooted again 3 times! Same message (load the corresponding configuration).
Not solved, at least for me : French SIMs - One E-sim (Orange) and one regular SIM (Free), in the USA (currently connected on AT&T and T-Mobile)
Version FP6-QREL.15.151.0
Hi and thanks for contributing.
If you haven’t yet opened a support ticket I recommend you do so.
It might be interesting to examine the phone’s behaviour when one and then the other SIM is disabled.
15.151.0 was supposed to solve the “Restart the phone to load the corresponding configuration”, but this is not the case for me (Multi-SIM, One E-SIM and one regular-SIM). French Operators for both SIM while roaming in the USA.
Just opened a support ticket.
I don’t know what else can be relevant.
Confirmed. It is NOT fixed as it just rebooted on me twice. I would not recommend the upgrade. There is a new issue that has shown up for me. I’ve never been able to get 5G to work on the Koodo (Telus) network, which I still can’t do, but now it degrades to 3G unless I go to the sim settings and toggle 2g/3g and then back to 2g/3g/4g/5g.
I have location accuracy turned off and it just restarted. I think this patch actually seems to make things worse.
9 posts were split to a new topic: FP6 Rebooting and Battery drain
Just applied the update in Toronto. I then factory reset for a good measure. The phone rebooted once right after booting. I added my account and typing from it. No further reboots after the first one. I haven’t added my eSIM yet.
I can confirm this is happening to me as well after I arrived to the US for a trip: even after the update, although before the update it seems it was happen constantly, and now happens occasionally… For now I have location services turned off at all as a precaution, but not sure if it will solve it entirely.
Probably makes sense to report directly to fairphone support with the SIM cards used and the specific situation (permanently in US or Canada vs traveling)
Why do you select 5G when you know its not working and did you try to set to 4G/3G/2G instead? Can you test a SIM of another provider?
It was happening with the last release.
I select 5g because I should be able to get 5g. Same sim on my Samsung phone gets me 5g no problem. I keep hoping this phone will be able to do it.
I do have cautiously positive news though: after the update, I turned on location accuracy and it rebooted within 5 minutes, I turned accuracy off and it still rebooted another two times, but since then not once.
Yesterday morning I turned accuracy back on and the total uptime with accuracy both off and on in this way has been 60 hours.
I’m not yet convinced that it’s fixed (that immediate post update behaviour was really weird), but this is definitely a good sign.
Since the update I figured I’d give an update on my end. I was able to re-enable all my location-related settings and I no longer have any restart issues (my phone seems to have restarted overnight the first night after the update, but it might be unrelated & hasn’t happened in the days since). I basically have normal full functionality back which is great, and I still have full network performance.
Sorry to hear it didn’t fix for everyone though. I’m with Bell, in Canada
I added a new Esim (Vodafone España) to my phone located in the US alongside a physical T-Mobile SIM yesterday and was disheartened to see our favorite reboot issue reappear. Cleared the Google Play Services cache and restarted the phone - the issue hasn’t reappeared since. Although this might be unrelated, the “configuration” may actually be loaded, just take a while to hold
I had this issue with many random reboots (always twice in a row) in the week of 10 -15 Nov while travelling in the USA.
Disabling “Location Accuracy” worked for me: zero reboots in the 5 days after disabling that. While the apps who use locations still work too (Maps, Uber/Lift etc).
And you already had or not the recent update to fix this installed?
Okay!
It’s now been almost 7 days without a reboot with location and location accuracy turned on. I’m not sure what those initial reboots were about, that happened immediately after this most recent update (FP6.QREL.15.151.0), but it appears that my phone is now stable.
So I’m going to change my original statement from “not working” to “working”.
Just to remind the readers, I’m in Canada on the Telus network (via koodo) with a single physical SIM.
Thanks everyone!
Hi there, brought back the FP6 from France this summer and I’m in Canada. Started using it in September with 2 sims (e-sim with Fizz, sim with Free) and had no reboot issues so far (I believe I was running original stock firmware) until I upgraded recently to 15.151.0 and then phone started rebooting randomly, whereas release notes mentioning that it’s supposed to be fixed
so I guess it’s not fixed yet!
I spoke too soon, perhaps. ‘Restart the phone to load the corresponding configuration’ message reappeared this morning followed by a restart.
It hadn’t happened in days of usage, and hasn’t again since. So it’s still quite usable even with all location settings on. Again, Fairphone 6, latest firmware, in Canada on Bell Mobility (physical SIM). But worth noting it hasn’t fully disappeared, just is improved.
