I’ve got a brand new fairphone 6. I receive it this Friday and set everything up on it after my previous phone died.
When I put it on charge it appears as charging but doesn’t. It only charges when plugged in to a portable battery, not on a wall plug. I’ve tried several adapters which work on different devices without problem. It run into the same issue.
The manual test for USB/Charger says that it’s an issue of Current (it appears as “NOK” - not ok).
Is there any fixes that should be tested before sending it away? I don’t have any other device to use in the meantime and not having a smartphone makes everything difficult. I’d rather avoid having to send it back if possible. The support only gives me the option of mailing it back.
Not sure if this helps but try to plug in your phone to a laptop USB port and see if its charging then, it might be that your current charger is too powerful for your device. I used my old Motorola 68W fast charger and my device (Fairphone 6) refuse to charge with it. Maximum current you should use it with is 30W.
Also check in settings if your device is set to eco charging. There’s only 2 options there.
It looks like it was that issue of adapters being too powerful. Thanks for mentioning this it really didn’t cross my mind that this would the issue and that it was not a flaw in my device
I would not expect that a “to strong” charger is an issue, because the phone is defining how much power it uses for charging.
Also the official Fairphone 3-port charger is a 65W charger.
I also experienced on my Fairphone 6, that it is really picky regarding chargers and cables. With the charger of my previous used Samsung Galaxy A52 the phone was not charging. Now I am using the above mentioned Fairphone charger and the most expensive Fairphone cable.
