In short: My new FP6 stopped charging and I cannot get it to charge anymore.
I plugged it in, connected to a working charger with working cable. When I unplugged my phone, I realized that it seemed to stop charging at 46%. So then I started to look for an issue but could not find the one that caused that behaviour:
Battery protection mode is not enabled. I enabled it - no change. I disabled it again - no change.
I tried a few different chargers, all working with a FP4 in my household. I have 2 Samsung chargers, 1 Fairphone charger and 1 Anker charger (I know, seems a bit excessive). I have a few fairly new USB-C to C cables, A to C cables, all working with the other phone and with a computer.
I cleaned the USB-C port out, but since the phone is new, I did not get anything out.
I disassembled the phone to check if there is any loose connection but no.
Right now I am waiting for a spare USB-C port that I ordered to try that out.
I forgot to mention the *#*#2886#*#* that I tried and it did not recognize any cables or chargers. Tomorrow I will give the MyFairphone a shot, thanks for that suggestion!
Hi, yes, this is what I suspected as well when you added the information about the code testing. It might be the warranty case then.
If the spare USB port solves the issue (I hope!), I think you could try to claim it back via warranty.
I had that exact thing happend to my FP6, too. I suggest you have a quick look at this thread.
With the fix supposedly being the exchange of the motherboard, I ended up being quite glad that I did not even try to do anything further than checking for debris or similar in the charging port. I would have ended wasting my time anyway. Will be getting it back after a bit more than 3 weeks of shipping and repair duration during christmas time.
After reaching out to support they took 5 days to reply and they wanted me to send the phone in. After doing so it took about 8 days to be repaired and sent back. They needed to change the sub-PCB where the USB-C connector is located. All has been covered by the warranty.
Now I just need to send back the USB-C connector that I ordered.
Still, I am impressed how smooth everything went, regarding what I read on the web about their support.
