My FP5 (BUILD NO. FP5.VT2Y.C.108.20260622) spontaneously switches itself off. I’ve not witnessed it, but often i take it out of my pocket and it’s dead. It switches on again normally. This happens around once or twice per week and then functions fine for a few weeks until suddenly it’s dead again. So far never overnight, only in my pocket or in a bag. Does anyone have a similar experience?
Mine restarts rather than switching off, and it does it mostly while I’m not looking, but it also happened this morning while I was using it!
Hi
I have seen my FP5 shutdown or restart for no apparent reason. Good news i have caught it twice once reaching 0%charge but then you wouldn’t be able to switch it on until charged. The other it reached an internal battery temperature of 50C, since we having high temperatures in Europe i assume that might be happening. U can see temperature in FP app under phone health.
If it isn’t temperature there some weird settings you could look into that might help like pocket mode or something.
You get a warning if it’s too hot. Actually device temperature.
Thank you for that. It sounds very plausible. I’ll look into that. If anyone has more suggestions how to trace phone activity before it turns off that’d be great.
Will ,is it still happening? Did u figure what’s happening. I wonder if there is a log file that might tell you why or debugging thing?
Not sure if there is anything you can do in developer option. Find in settings> system. It needs to be activated by tapping 10 times on build number in settings>about phone. Am i supposed to put disclaimer here like be careful or something.
I did a search in Brave AI came back some suggestions see screenshot looks like there might be a way. I need to find how now to run commands.
This youtube link might be of interest , learning as i go along. @Will_Bkly i am not sure how tech savvy you are.https://youtu.be/GERlhgCcoBc
Thanks for all that! The problem is most likely due to overheating but the options you’ve found with logcat look worth pursuing.
Thanks for the help!
