My first was open 06 April 2025 and got no answer yet, all the energy towards the Fairphone 6
I have the same issue but it did nothing after way more than 7 times. I’ve tried many things. Is there a way to go back to Android 14 ?
No I dont think so, when the system is not falling back automatically after several attempts to reboot and your bootloader is locked and you havent enabled OEM unlocking?
I can boot in safe mode (although I don’t know how, it seems I have to press random buttons ^^"). I’m trying to unlock the bootloader … for now I’m unsuccessful
Safe mode doesnt help you with this. And when OEM unlocking wasnt enabled you cant unlock
Any updates on this? My phone is also bricked after attempting update
I guess not. Support seems unresponsive and I lost hope in getting a response
Did you already try to reboot at least 7 times and the device is not falling back the A14?
Same issue. Thank god for the multiple reboots putting me back on android 14
I have the same issue. Same situation like @ranosch photo.
I tried to set the active slot of Android 14, but it did not boot. Then I installed the software manually as described here: https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/18896094650513-How-to-manually-install-Android-on-your-Fairphone
Still no luck.
Does anyone know how to recover userdata from this situation?
So your bootloader is unlocked?
And to repeat myself
Just adding my frustration here. Also with not working finger print sensor (and a ticket open for this for several months with rather meagre support, might just visit the office coming week to get them look at this, what I also suggested).
@all kindly focus on the issue and topic and share frustration about support times in dedicated topics.
Bootloader is unlocked, used Shelter to put banking apps, disabled many Google apps, and installed Magisk. A13 to A14 worked.
Did not reboot 7 times and installed A15 manually. Did not work.
Just flashed A14 and after some boot loops, Android Recovery appears with the note:
Can’t load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. …
So you can do a factory reset (what for sure would delete uswr data…)? And to ensure: you have a broken fingerprint sensor as well?
I am still trying to avoid a factory reset and losing all app data. I have not used the fingerprint sensor.
Has anybody reading this thread successfully installed the update to Android 15?
I’m reading this and my FP5 successfully updated to A15. I had no issues. But my sister’s FP5’s fingerprint sensor is not working and the A15 updated fails. Maybe both issues belong together.
Her FP5’s update fails as described above: It downloads, installs, then it tries to restart, but is stuck on the screen with the “I” in the middle. Restarting it 7 times resets it then to A14.
Yes, for me it went through without any issues. My fingerprint sensor is also working.
There seems to be a link between dysfunctional fingerprint sensor and failed A15 update.
Those who have fingerprint problems might be advised to hold off from the update for the moment.
Of course we are seeing mostly the problems here in the forum, so most users are probably OK.
If the update fails then attempt a reboot up to 7 times, the phone should roll back to A14 as designed.
