Hi !
Today, after playing with my custom LOS 18 build for quite some time (a bit more than a month), I thought I’d give a try to latest fairphone OS.official procedure , everything went fine except… my device won’t boot
I tried rerunning the flash script again, with no success. I mean the flashing process go through with no error but same outcome. Anyone would have an idea how to overcome ? Bootloader is of course still unlocked.

I’m curious because I want to experiment with LOS but it’s important to be able to go back to stock.

Well I tried to but I can’t access recovery, it will automatically fall back to bootloader.

Hm that’s weird. Have you tried if at least going back to the LOS build is working?

Edit:

What would that mean and what should I do about it ?
Edit 2: Now that I look closer to the flashing logs, even though there is not error, I do get some message between almost each step saying:

Not sure if this could be the issue. But
Sounds like it’s failing to verify the signature.
Did you do the “fastboot flashing unlock_critical” step when you originally unlocked the bootloader? I read that this step was only added later.

You might be on to something. Indeed I did NOT do this when I initially unlocked the bootloader (because like you said it was not in the guide at that time), therefore I did it just before running the flashing script because I had an error saying that critical could not be overwritten or something.

Hm but if unlock_critical then succeeded and all is now unlocked I don’t know why it should be bricked.
Maybe the output from

can give us a clue?

I justed wanted to write that. Someone found the solution here:
That certainly helped. The script now completed successfully and rebooted my phone. Unfortunately the boot loop persisted.
Setting the boot partition to a helped:
fastboot --set-active=a
Now my phone seems to be in the same condition as when I initially received it. Except for the unlocked bootloader. Many thanks to: @Volker , @yvmuell @hirnsushi
Ok now I’m confident that I can try install LOS without bricking the phone

Well let me know if you manage to get auto-brightness to work on it using iodé’s commits, I certainly did not. But that’s the most annoying thing for now
