FP3 will not connect by USB to windows 10 computer

Hello All,

as the title says my fairphone will not connect via USB. it just throws up an error stating “USB not recognised the last USB device you connectedto this computer malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it”

I have tried multiple cables, including one from fairphone, and USB slots on my computer with no success, I have verified that these cables work by connecting different phones to my computer and another computer using said cables.

I have tried going into developer mode and changing the default USB behaviour to “file transfer” with no joy

I have even replaced the bottom unit, which includes the USB slot, with a new one from Fairphone and still no luck.

I want to know it anyone has any other ideas or if i’m just doomed

File transfer is done via MTP (Media Transfer Protocol).
Here’s a generic MTP and driver repair …

• Disconnect the phone from the computer.
• In Control Panel (search for it in the Start menu) - Programs and Features:
  Uninstall the Android SDK (if installed) and everything with “MTP” or “ADB” in its name.
• Reboot Windows.
• In Device Manager (via Control Panel - Device Manager or search for it in the Settings):
  Enable View - Show hidden devices, and then uninstall every possible ADB, MTP and smartphone device, hidden or not.
• Reboot Windows.
• Connect the phone again. Windows should install the necessary drivers then automatically. They can be named after a different device, this doesn’t matter.

Thank you for the responce to my question, unfortunately this did not work, i have been able to acess other android phones with my computer no problem
