IMO a lot of that whole wanting the grass to be greener mentality comes from the impending collapse of global capitalism. It’s natural for people to want to go back to a time when the worlds economic system wasn’t collapsing, and it’s easy for a bunch of bigots and fascists to latch onto those emotions to push their agendas, along with the deregulation big business interests seek. That’s the thing though, is just because it’s populist on the ground, doesn’t mean someone isn’t going to capitalize and try to rig the game in their favor…
