I sent my Fairphone back to get it repaired under warranty. My SIM tray had snapped (making it impossible to remove the SIM card), one of the volume buttons had fallen off, and the Fairphone moments switch wasn’t working. I assumed these were straightforward fixes.
Anyway, after 2.5 weeks, I got my phone back and been reset to factory settings. Nothing too valuable was lost since my photos are backed up and I stream most media, but it’s super frustrating having to download and log into a bunch of apps, especially bank apps and transport apps. I live between two countries so it’s not as straightforward as using the same credentials or 2FA for everything.
I wish they could’ve backed up my data and then reloaded it onto the repaired phone. Or at least warned me to do the same. Like I said, I assumed it would just be a minor physical repair.
Normally you are informed about this and this is always done because of data protection, so they cannot make back-ups for you, thats your responsibility
When sending my device for repair I got this message from Fairphone

Actually good point, and come to think of it I now remember deleting my bank apps and email app. But still, I was hoping the rest would still be there haha
